I'd say this Christmas was a pretty good last "hurrah" for 2009. :D

Like the simple folk we are, my family (grandparents on my dad's side, their kids plus spouses and grandkids (two of whom had spouses too) and one great granddaughter...about 38 people total) all/most gathered at lola's place and piled gifts around the tree.

always one heck of a sight considering lola's tree goes up to the ceiling and she's got great decorations and well, it's a lot of gifts XP

Mass of course was an important part of the proceedings. Christians we are. :) usually we all go together though sometimes we do it in separate family units. and of course ~~like in most family gatherings~~ there was a kids' talentshow/presentation. It's pretty much dwindled over the years as we "kids" have grown up (heck less than 1/2 are minors) and discovered (a) that we have no/little talent for such things (b)shame/dignity and (c)how to avoid our elders XD ...now it was just a cousin of mine who proved that we have some musical talent in the family as he played a guitar and sang (with back up from our other cousins). it was very nice and proved the influence of american idol ^^;

and of course there was a delicious Christmas dinner. lasagna, christmas ham, fish, salad with several types of cake for dessert (cause some people are diabetic). oddly enough we had turkey. I mean, it tasted nice just that it was new. Turkey's not native here in the Phil and honestly, chicken is a lot cheaper.

another tradition of ours is to have the kids act like "elves" -yeah, the designation doesn't quite fit...I think it was cause we were all small back then - to distribute presents (not the most dignified thing I've done in a dress but hey). One of my cousins mentioned that as soon as Stella, my cousin Ryan's kid, got old enough (ie. can walk and read names at least) to play elf, he'd retire but I had point out that if anyone was retiring it should be me since I was the oldest active elf. Why I haven't is a mystery to me. Maybe I just like holding on to old practices....took me a while to give up trick or treating as well but I do like a nice holloween costume party now :D

I got some lovely gifts this year <3 though the baths set that I got makes me laugh a bit...the body wash and soaps have names like 'gingerbread, cottoncandy and stuff"...I'm not sure I should use them to bathe or eat them XD

Christmas day proper we spent with the Belardo branch the family of my lolo's sister. their house got pretty beat up, mud actually entered the house and they spend days cleaning up, after the Ondoy typhoon, epecially my tita's room cause it was on the ground floor (she lost all her stuff except her cpu cause she managed to bring that up) but things looked pretty good. had to play board games though cause the tv in the living room got trashed XP

what was funny during that visit is that i learned that Mateo, (adopted son of the son of my grandfather's sister...my second cousin?) has been learning to talk...and squeal. Apparently the people of the household have been slipping him some junk foods and/or softdrinks, stuff you shouldn't give toddlers at least and when he learned to speak, he would ask for some and tell his mom exactly who gave it to him before ("who gave you coke?" "grandpa!") XXDD "from the mouths of children..."

lastly I spent a few days with my grandparents which was a lot of fun. she's got great food and even bought me a dress for grad (to wear under the toga) ..I will look pretty...now I just gotta graduate :P. just a little sad that I wasn't able to net much due to the computer being password protected ^^;

back in Cebu again. sibs and mom are here for new years though so I guess there will be some more family ~~mayhem~~ fun :D

on a different note, I've started reading Terry Prachet's Diskworld and funnily enough the first three books that i got all involved Death. Not really a coincidence; I've always liked incarnation stories...though until Prachett and Gailman, Piers Anthony was the only noteworthy one that I've read. Death being a favorite of mine though I'm not sure why...I know I never really got into Time cause it gets very technical/confusing but Death now...well how we face/think of death is important I think. Affects how we think. how we live.

It's an amazing series. very witty and droll and on a deep level, rather introspective :D I do love a book that looks on the folibles of man (and his thinking) with a sense of humor. makes it easier to endure the rigours of living if not brightening the journey considerably. I'm gonna try to collect them but slowly. so my wallet doesn't suffer. it's 30+ books XP

Okie, this chapter was so full of epic badass-ry, Holy Shit- NOT GOOD and "NOOO, somebody get the doctor", that hopefully I can last the three weeks til the next chapter comes out. Hopefully. ^^; that or I will stalk journals and communities for OP goodness to get my fix.

there are no words to express how overjoyed I was to see Luffy, the future PIRTATE KING, make his desire (stopping the executioners) real just from the sheer force of his wish when he's so very far away. Now that is willpower. Luffy, you are AWESOME

Buggy had better have caught all that on his denden mushi. the World has to know the EPIC AWESOMENESS of the King of Pirates

the WTH faces on all his comrades is just icing on the cake. XD the marines, and especially Sengoku's expression, would be those little decorative bits (candles, flowers, shiny beads, that sort of thing) they add to pretty the whole thing up XXDD

on the flipside, I am seriously worried about Marco, Jozu and Whitebeard. D: Our lovely phoenix is cuffed and lasered through and against an admiral (and possibly a vice as well)...he may have to cut off his hand (which will hopefully regenerate? please?)

while Jozu is fully frozen and his right arm may be broken (diamond can break?! ...but wait...maybe the other WB pirates can dump some heated seawater on him? or dip him in? Buggy got revived that way... but what about his arm?!)

and WB is losing blood, and got hit by magma, and was shot and stabbed multiple times and is old but he's still fighting cause like the good ~~and violent~~ father that he is, he has to secure his kids' future before he kicks it... which hopefully does not mean he is gonna kick it after they save Ace. cause everyone will be sad and Ace'll never forgive himself.

Luffy is basically doing everything to force his exhausted/damaged body into moving...with major consequences. he's lying to his body, to himself in a way and Luffy is a horrible liar. this will not end well. for his body. as long as Ace lives, Lu's not gonna give a damn about the consequences...D:

but there were happy/epic moments! Hancock was so cool. so serious about shielding Luffy from the Kuma bots but still goes schoolgirl!blush when Luffy says her name XD very strong she is. Kicking a bot like that ~~Sanji should take lessons~~.

I'm glad she's around if only for the fact that I don't have to worry about her dying. She's epically strong, got haki to equal Luffy, the marines (other than Smoker) have yet to figure out that she's on Luffy's side and she's not all "I will give my life for this person/cause"... the last alone really raises her chances XP

though I do wonder how badly Sengoku will shit himself when it sinks in that another King's Haki user is a Luffy ~~Fan~~ Supporter. He's already having issues with the rubber rookie...

Lastly, oh, Coby, you sweet little hard worker you! You've known from the very start of both your adventures that Luffy could pwn you in a second and yet you still try to do your duty to stop him ~~and fail ludicrously~~. you make a good ~~punching bag~~ marine. it's okay now. *pats* You've done what you could; no one can say you were a traitor or anything...please do crawl off somewhere and play dead/badly hurt so you can avoid more pirates and Akainu.

I said this would be short...huh... sadly, I don't think I was mistaken ^^;

...I've actually been home for a few days now, just haven't had all that much time ~~to myself~~ with the computer seeing as I've got three siblings. and there is only one compu with an internet connection :P we take turns XD ~~like good children~~ internet

withdrawal aside, it's great to be back! I miss my sibs (I can argue/bitch/talk to them about whatever and they don't take offense...cause I can be somewhat rude unless I work on it. Not that I mean to be, I apparently just come out very direct/forceful and it's interpreted as aggressive. and I'm usually just trying to keep my dander up so my courage doesn't run off on me :P) and my mother. and everyone actually.

fun part now that my brother's got a job is that he treats us out regularly (with no ~~girlfriend~~ life we're the only one's he can spend on apparently... other than his car of course) even got to see my grandmother last sunday. was fun, couple of my aunts and uncle were there and a debate got started about movies. and other people we haven't seen. accidents that have recently occured. like a shootout in one of the malls O.O

and we watched Avatar! it was good! I loved the animation (really cool CG) of the people and the entire world, not just the fight scenes and there was a plot! heh, a lot of the films I've seen recently have put more emphasis on the "cool" fight scenes and not enough plot (like transformers... I loved the giant robots (especially Sideswipe and Prime's battle scenes) but the plotline was horrible)

Maybe not completely "original"...people go to new planet with indigenous population with different goals, plans of hostile takeover, one group joins natives and they beat them back. that's been done (very atlantis actually) but the details were quite varied and it was fun noting them. especially when it came to the animals/plants...

I'm a biology student. what can i say? besides I do love me the color blue. and flying dragons/creatures. and the floating rocks were cool :D

This chapter is just-! Truly a D brother special!

Luffy did it! ~~Asked for~~ demanded and got Iva to give him another adrenaline/tension shot (go eiliem who guessed right off the bat what Oda was thinking..wow, her mind reading powers are growing) which will probably kill him after it wears off right away!!! because he doesn't care as long as he saves Ace! because he'd want to be dead if he wasn't able to save his bro! ;__; Luuuuuuuuuufffffffffyyyyyyyyy!!! *hugs and never lets go* The part of my mind that's worrying itself to death is rather impressed with his haki! forget Will of D (still a mystery up to now since Drum), nothing can go against the Will of Luffy! XD ..even when it looks like he's gonna get himself killed and he knows it... awww, good feeling gone... And ACE! weeping in joy that he's alive! He's HAPPY that he's alive! he get's it that he's got a wonderful life (idiots trying to kill him cause of who his sire was notwithstanding) and he's blessed! Finally!!! It took a war and seeing so many of his loved ones ~~dying~~ in pain to do it but he finally gets it! He wants to liiiiiiiiiiiiiive! No more "kill me", "this is my mess/fault, let me die/suffer the consequences" or even "I can accept any fate...take the hand that saves me or the blade that judges me". Like Robin at the Tower of Justice. Maybe now he'll even try to escape/assist in his own rescue. At least some good came out of this war. but tin!Ace! I want to hug him so badly! Asking about his father (circumspectly of course) cause he was wanted one/to learn more about him/justify his own existence and got mad at the people who were badmouthing him. He so needs a daddy to love/protect him ~~and not cause him to be condemned~~. Thank Oda for Whitebeard. And for Luffy! clearly the rubber boy was the key to making Ace the happy, laid back, polite young brat/ass we all know and love. Nothing can resist the Luffy! <3 On the other hand, he's really strong! even as a kid- he beat up kids twice his size, no fruit and he wasn't double digits yet! and so angsty, withdrawn and sullen. and he knew about Luffy before Garp brought him over (so I guess the thugs he beat up weren't in Fuusha?) I wonder when he turned bitter against Roger? but there were other things too: Garp! such a badass grin in the first page! old man he may be but he's still "the marine hero" and he earned that title. and yet such a heartbroken expression when Ace said he was happy to be alive :( poor grandpa... Buggy's back! I'm actually surprised he didn't get cooked but now that he's up (and apparently his sanity/sense of self preservation didn't wake with him). what'll he do now? knowing him, he's proabably going to do something stupid that will either fail or work in unexpected ways :P He's comedy relief too... Oh noes! Whitebeard! his age/sickness/injury are all catching up to him. Get up pops! You can't fall now! Marco got hit cause he was distracted/going to aid his pops (he's a phoenix, he'll revive, he's a phoenix, he'll revive) and Jozu was half frozen cause he was worried about Marco! Low, but Kizaru and Aokiji were just using the opportunities presented to them. It is a war. Can't fault them. (not like ~~how the Strawhats were willing to leave each other cause they believed in each other or~~ how Luffy said if he took his eyes off Lucci it would be worse than his going to aid them) but this is a problem! the three top WB pirates injured.

not good not good not good not good not good but! Luffy's back up! Fully (?) charged ~~desperate~~ and ready to go! Anything can happen now!

by my standards, today went pretty well. ^^;

by which I mean I didn't totally screw up. :P Developmental bio was all right. I get the bad feeling I used "blastula" too often and I mispelled something but I'm pretty sure I got a lot correct (without resorting to "enie minie mini mo" ~~at all~~ much). German...not so good. XP I studied the wrong things which is a pretty big problem when you ~~don't have a clue about~~ can barely understand the language medium...ah bother.

For some odd reason the catchphrase: "Do you feel lucky?" popped into my head and my automatic answer is: "Nope. Not really."

and then in animal physio, we opened up a frog to watch it's heart pump, even holding a heated glass rod right next to it to see it's reaction. Naturally it beat a lot faster. It completely spazzed when my classmate accidentally touched the rod to the heart. Talk about heartburn. Literally.

We are so cruel. *hangs head*

I can not sing.

I mean, I get how to say the lyrics along with the tune but my voice cracks like delicate china once I try to go too far up or down the scale from my speaking tone. Most say nothing about my voice so I guess it isn't too terrible to listen to XP but the nicest thing my BF ever said about it was "okay, there is somebody who sings worse than you" after listening to another student (we were big on singing -mostly in chorus- in High School) and recently a classmate told me that my voice wasn't bad just that I should avoid high notes.

Normally it wouldn't matter but I gotta sing a christmas song in german for my class. and it's got high notes. You'd think I'd chose a lower song but I like it. nice slow and short. the title's "Süßer die Glocken nie klingen“ which basically translates to "Sweeter the bells never sound". (thank youtube for the music videos and kareoke pieces :P) Guess I'll just have to sing in a low tone. Maam will probably pay more attention to pronunciation anyway. hopefully.

no pol sci test on thursday. apparently my group did well enough in the oral test that our teacher didn't feel like bothering. Which is good! :D I did get a mental block for my part but I was able to answer most of her questions so I did reasonably well?

and in other news, I got to change my plane ticket from sunday to thursday :D so I'll get home that much sooner XD

oh nononononononononononononononononono!!!! And he was so close to his big bro too! Is he all right?! Two vice admirals (momonga and ~~until he is named~~ spotted dog mask guy) used Roushiki to cut and stab him (dang it! Lu had enough of that treatment with Pigeon bastard! they didn't even let him get out of Gear Second pose...would it have done any good? he's running on fumes!) then Kizaru lasers and exploding kicks him. And he's already all tired from the fighting and those vigour hormones seem to be fading (it's been what? nearly 48 hrs, I wager, since Luffy's had any rest/sleep. more possibly... I mean, how much could he have gotten much while being all worried about his brother?)

I guess the general consensus is right: it's too soon for Luffy to be fighting at this scale (with an Emperor, Warlords, commanders, new world pirates and all the might of the marines...). He will one day cause he's gonna be the Pirate King but not right now! And yet, it's Luffy! there was no way he would not go with someone so near and dear to him in danger.

"Ace is the only brother that I have in the world!"

God that line drove me to tears! ;_; He just wants his brother safe! He couldn't care less about all this crap about blood and what-have-you. Or his own life.

He's does have a big heart (the biggest! he'll love anybody as long as he/she/it doesn't hurt his loved ones!) but it's not all talk! He's got skills too. Just not enough experience...

And oh crap! Revitalize?! another round of vigour hormones then? if the aftereffects of the first round is gonna be terrible (and they haven't hit yet!), a second will probably kill/torture him!

(hank you papabeard for catching him and telling ur men to care for him but did you have to hold him like a limp rag rubber doll? it is so very worrying! So is your condition btw.

We saw how tired he looked after one powered up swing. he probably shouldn't be doing it again and again. 0.0 Aokiji didn't get hurt with that stab so does freezeman have anit-haki power? or did Oyaji not use haki? and if Oyaji didn't, was he using his haki to keep himself in the fight?! fighting on sheer willpower ~~like Luffy~~?

But points to Oyaji for being unpopsicable! Ha! take that Aokiji!

And go Jozu! (so he's admiral level? good!) Keep him occupied so he doesn't freeze anybody else important.

Oyaji's got a soft spot for reckless idiots like Luffy ~~and Ace~~! thank goodness he's out there in the vast ocean making sure they don't do stupid/reckless things and get themselves killed.

Love that spread wing pose of his when he landed an oh look! Frustrated expression! on a guy who's usually so calm he looks sleepy. This is symbolism for OHSHIT!

Gaaaaaarp! what are you doing?! they're trying to save your grandson here! And yet how awesome is grandpa here?! so fricking powerful! And what did Sengoku mean about his "sticking his nose where it didn't belong"? didn't he mean in the last chapter that they were both gonna fight so why would he object to Garp's blocking of Marco? or is Garp purposely moving away and engaging a powerful oponent so he's got legitimate excuse why he won't be available to guard Ace from other attacks/help Sengoku? Look at his face when he declares that they have to "go over his dead body"...it's like he reciting for the heck of it. nothing like how he usually gives those taunts.

I'm grasping at straws here. I so don't want to believe Garp would choose duty over family and yet all D's are loyal to their own causes even at the price of personal pain.

It hurts! this chapter hurts so much!!! I want the next one now!!!

In other news...I find the colorspread rather gay ^^; Fruit Warriors. Just. Gay. Happy Too. Luffy is a bright red apple, Chopper a peach (hat looks like a butt :P), Zoro melon (LOL), Franky blue strawberry (???) Nami orange/mikan (expected), Brook grapes, Sanji banana (is there a joke to this?) and Robin is blueberries I think...not sure.

I dug my own grave and now I must sleep in it...

I did rather badly in the quiz for my developmental biology class and the test for my german class. I have no excuse for how badly I did. I knew they were coming up and yet I didn't study ~~all that much.~~ I goofed around. Surfed the net. read. Whole tuesday without class so really I'm getting low marks cause of my procrastination habit. ;_;

I can't get why I haven't shook off this reluctance. Usually my brain gets that vacation is over by premid but this time I seem to be viewing sembreak and christmas break as one and the school hours as something that shouldn't be there (and therefore must be ignored...) burnout from last sem? maybe...still no excuse. :(

in other news, we ~~tortured~~ compared the circulatory systems of a cockroach and a goldfish today in animal physio. cholroformed the bug (and boy did he run around frantically when the gas was added...~~almost like he knew he wouldn't be waking up again~~) but at least he was unconscious? the goldfish got to lie on a wet petri dish while we observed the blood flowing in the tail (it's very thin so the blood vessels could be seen) and was dosed with adrenaline and nicotine to see how the chemicals would affect the diameter of the blood vessels and the blood flow. :( Science can be cruel.... Next week we're gonna observe a pig's heart and open up another frog. *sigh* makes me feel a little guilty when I see those "cut class not frogs" stickers :P

And I have a political science oral test tom and yet I find time to write this? yeah, not learning my lesson here...

It's times like this that I really miss my Dad. He was one of my very best friends, my confidant and my rock. had nice down-to-earth advice. gave great hugs too. Never got tired of me bitching either. Heck, he made time to listen to me do it. and remind me that sometimes I just need "me" time. that it wasn't me lazying about being stupid. made it sound necessary even. I'd rant at my bestie but calls are expensive...I miss my Daddy . ;_;

'nother thing I miss is mininova. it was a great site for torrent downloading. got particularly attached, even though I've only been using it for a few months as I don't have cable and downloading from it was my way of keeping up with the shows I like...like mythbusters, the big bang theory and grey's anatomy. I'd have downloaded more, like CSI (any version), bones and numbers but I was afraid of slowing down my comp. still trying to find a replacement site.

Damn Kizaru! I kinda figured Luffy wouldn't be able to get past the admirals without taking some damage but to call him slow in gear 2nd is really, really bad. he won't be able to run from them and Ace's out of time. and he kicked him as well...

Kuzan, you too! stabbing your hero's grandson like that(and something about a debt? why? what did Garp doooooooooooo?. but still to be nice to a "filthy pirate", he really is a fanboy isn't he? XD even after 20+ years XD )

I never thought I'd say "thank you Crocodile" but OP apparently can cause miracles. I know he did it for his own reasons but I'm really grateful he did it anyway ^^; (though Marco on standby reassures me) the man really does seem to have a chip on his shoulder(everyone seems to know about his issues with Oyaji) lashing out at everybody...except for Daz Bones (seriously...his only friend)

Ace looks so hopelessly resigned to his fate!! ;_; Noooo! Luffy! Oyaji! Save Ace!!!

Flamingo saying "reject my proposal" and "make me jealous" is starting to make me think FlammingxCroc shippers may have something XDD they're almost flirting XP You gotta admit, pink feather-boy hasn't paid anyone else nearly as much attention (he got tired of Atomos, Iva and Jozu but he's still ~~chasing~~ talking to Crocodile)

Marco thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou! (and thank you Papabeard for telling Marco to watch out for Luffy! rubber boy needs it!) he saved Luffy from Aokiji! with a literal fying kick! XD and then he goes and strikes a totally cool and colleced badass pose! (I soooo want that animated...actually I wanna see all his scenes animated <3) Oh Marco, I love you. you're such a big bro, looking out for both the reckless D brothers.

and Ha! I knew Whitebeard had to have more ships! And it's a black Moby Dick! (total reverse of the reference and yet...do any of the ships have a different name?) and a paddle wheel (which then begs the question of how's it being powered? I'm sure everyone's busy fighting...or crazy!thought...is that where they stashed the nurses?) Oyaji's such a great planner. took even Sengoku by surprise :D though why did he have to call Jozu? did the diamond man have the dendenmushi?

and if you look at the lower right panel of the 11th page, there's a guy there who looks like Franky! (and Atomos was on board! might have been someone else but you see him posing with WB and the other commanders in the last pages so it is him! he's alive! Oda's not subverting!)...random thought...can that little bit of anchor really hold down the ship?

Oaaaaars! Don't die 'kay?! he's just unconscious. even after that massive effort to pull the ship through the gap on one leg and a stump he's just unconscious. tired of people shooting him that's all. really. they need him to pull out the ship when they're done so they can have something to ride in after all...

O.O Oyaji is just- so so EPICALLY AMAZINGLY BADASS!!! he practically mowed down the marines! after warning his kids to stay away cause he might hurt them - he's such a great father! (;_; don't die Oyaji!!!) but then that close up shot! He looks tired/strained (don't need a reminder that he's old and wounded here!). was that move that draining? that is BAD but his pose with his commanders/children is amazing! totally want someone to color that page :D and the female commander does have both arms ^^; whoops and two guns...and counting those well detailed pirtates in front of Oyaji...there are only 12 of them...Marco's off somewhere, Ace's is tied up, Sach is dead so where is the last one?

Sengoku and Garp are joining in the battle! OMFG!!! that is REALLY REALLY BAD after chapter 0, we know they kick ass. they took down Shiki 22 years ago and I don't think they've gotten weaker O.O!

need next chapter now! I say that every chapter...it's an addiction I swear... ^^;

this chapter was so full of SQUEEEEE that I don't know how to compress it...therefore I won't...I'll just write what the heck popped into my head XD

first off, the colorspread! So Badass! mafia family themed! freaky oversized guns...Franky's looks odd to me if only cause it looks like a revolver yet has a belt of ammo that is reminiscent of a machine gun. and Zoro's had three barrels! XD Robin pulls of the whole "elegant lady who'll shoot you dead" persona so well :D Brook...I can so see him loading his gun and going, "this bullet's got your name on it" resulting in a freakout XD... Chopper's actually looked more "cannon" than "gun"...he'd be more badass to me but the pink hat kinda kills it XD then Ussop's samurai/kabuto outfit! he looks so odd one out (til you realize he's got a suit in there too)...makes you wonder why but still he looks fierce! :D and Luffy! You know the guy's gonna kick ass if he doesn't even look like he needs that freaky gun to deal damage.

Little Lucci with a (freaky)pigeon (was that Hattori?) and Jyanbura?...Duval's appearance being blamed on the pirate age (though the one holding him didn't look much better). Then Shiki goes and cuts off his legs...HOW exactly? he didn't look like the left him with anything sharpy/pointy and the stumps were clean cut...and WHY did they store his swords where he was? (and lol hanyabal...he's been dreaming of a promotion for 20+ years XD)...and then he goes and shoves his swords' hilts into his bloody stumps...OWWWW!!! how can he walk without pain in every step?!

Garp spent his off time in Fusha (I'm a firm believer until Oda says otherwise, that Windmill village is the hometown of the Monkeys...)Dadan lived in the mountains nearby! Little Ace was sooo adorable!!! and speedy! and he thought Garp was funny! (wonder when Garp started calling himself Ace's grandpa instead of old uncle?)

Kuina's mother believing in her child unconditionally! her dad not so much :P Kuina had so much potential! her death would be such a waste but it did inspire Zoro so very much.

Yassop looked almost exactly like his son! except for the nose! and Shanks seeking him out! probably cause of his mad sniper skills...wonder how long he held out before the lure of the jolly roger got to him?

Going Merry being designed! Bellemere being so cool and badass! Redleg Zeff in his prime! Hirluk apparently was "practicing" medicine even before Wapol took the throne! and failing. what's with evil pirates having such great amounts of patience working on EVIL PLANS of EVIL? Kurohige and Shiki..."show to rock the world to its core" "the people of the world will see hell" dang those two...

this was waaay more than I expected and yet. I WANT MORE!!! more backstory of minor characters! more insights to the history of the world. More flashbacks. Just. MORE! please, Oda?

family visits and new moon reactions/minor ranting

My tita Weena came over last wednesday and we had a blast reconnecting over a delicious steak dinner. mostly when I dine out, I usually stick to cheap-moderate fare so it was a wonderful treat <3 and she brought me santis sausages...which are very tasty and aren't sold here...though I mainly want them cause it reminds me of home. Mom buys them a lot and it's all lola serves during her barbeques...Okie, I'm a little homesick. Not my fault. Usually I go home for sem break but this time I wasn't cause of thesis....gotta remember it's only a few more weeks and I really should be wishing time to move so fast but I'm impatient .. ^^;

Tita Weena's very easy to talk to and she had news of what was going on there in manila with my dad's side of the family. I'd heard some of it from txts and tita rina when she was here but details differ. that's why it's good to hear a story from multiple sides :D Plus she had some good advice about taking a year or so off to find what I wanted to do with my life and not, as she put it "let my studies define what I do not what I want direct my studies"...I'd like to. Really. I haven't got any passion (for work/real life related stuff) which worries me a lot. but also I worry about taking time off cause of how important people make having clear cut goals from like childhood, never swerving from a path, how people look down on you when you've got no goals and how competitive the workforce is...I've never really been sure of what to do with myself. even when I chose my course in college I did it mainly on the basis of me liking biology...like not love and going for "marine" cause it was interesting....tita says it's cause I haven't found something to be passionate about and I agree.

New Moon was...well I'll be very surprised if it wins any awards but it wasn't that bad of a film. certainly it wasn't the "trashy ripoff" that some reviewers have called it...it was a tween flick and it delivered on that score. there were hot guys (although seeing all those nicely tanned half naked werewolves in low riding shorts made my brain go ACE! ACE! ACE! ACE! ACE!...clearly OP is firmly logged in my head) there was heartbreak, passion, angst, a love triangle, pain and drama by the bucketload.

the CG was very nice at least. though in a way i find it very disappointing that the CG wolves had more expressiveness than some of the human characters, *cough*Edward*cough*...seriously at times the guy was just practically reading his lines and with the way he kept looking off to a side (and not at bella) made me wonder if someone was holding up cue cards or something. Bella wasn't so much better. I mean if the other characters didn't hover so much after Edward left it would have been a little hard to tell her post breakup self from her prebreakup...always so stiff...

And he did look constipated a lot. Bella's blood may "sing" to him constantly but if he always looked to be in pain, that scrunched up look would be considered his default expression and not his reaction to bella. and it can't be said that he couldn't control it or at least hide it or how could he and bella have a relationship?

What the heck was up with Aro? I mean for a guy who knows so much why did he have to stare bug-eyed at everything?...the blood red eyes were freaky enough without seeing the white to compare it with...

the whole rip off a guy's head thing was weird too...I mean, it was like he ripped a hunk of stone (how'd that happen) and Aro's known to like being dramatic...it was rather anticlimatic...(and this was PG3???)

And since when did Felix have a special ability? in the list in breaking dawn, he's not listed as having one or was it dimitri who pwned Edward? well even if it was, his ability is tracking not that weird "draining"/"sapping-strength-resulting-in-prominent-veins" thing?... as if the volturi need more weaponry...that's what jane was for.

one last rant about the vampires would be, why is Laurent BLACK?! I've been wondering since the 1st movie and I still can't find a reason...vampires are supposed to be pale (that even came up during Bella's search) I get that as a very darkly skinned man (I cannot call him african because he's supposed to be French..and honestly how many black French men with dreadlocks were around how many centuries ago) wouldn't pale naturally but vampires are unnaturally pale anyway....If it wasn't for the red eyes, he'd be the last person to be suspected to be a vamp...

...not a rant cause I recognize I may be biased, but Rosalie is not drop dead gorgeous and I was very disappointed in her...loved Emmett, Alice, Jasper and Carslie though.

not much werewolf fail...maybe cause I was distracted by by the sight of many half naked teenagers? but how could Bella have slapped Paul? werewolves are supposed to be tough and even if he just got ticked cause she had the audacy to do it, there'd still be reprecussions...in Breaking she hit Jacob so hard she broke bones in her hand and he didn't even notice she'd struck him.

Oh shit you EVIL marines! was pretty much how I reacted to the Falling Magma Fists From the Sky

And then I went YAY!!! when Oars woke up. He's alive!!! Bleeding like hell cause of the stab wound and cut-off leg but since when was blood important ~~figuratively and literally~~? Thank God Oda didn't subvert and is still keeping his characters alive. Oyaji's chances are looking up!

And then I go O.O Luffy, what the hell are you doing! Reckless Fool! Oh, Luffy! I know you're worried about your big bro but think a little, please! ...then again, he did think. came up with that good(?) plan of attacking the admirals ~~WTH~~ then slipping past them and now he's that much closer to his big bro. :) ...all alone. With the Fleet Admiral right there. ACK.

They've shown the Nova's ! they're all alive and well and FREE...which pretty much shoots the idea that they were the ones who opened the gates for Luffy and co. to hell...dang. It was a lovely theory...but missing the mark's pretty normal when trying to guess what Oda-sama's thinking ^^;...

but! how'd they get away? I mean, I know they're powerful, they likely wouldn't have such high bounties if they couldn't kick ass but some of them were in a pretty tight pinch. Bonnie and Capone being the execption. Law, Kidd and Killer were dealing with a Kuma clone...maybe they did an offscreen team up? ~~Wah! I wanna see!~~ 3 nova's plus other crewmembers would probably beat a clone but how'd Apoo, Drake, Uroga and Hawkins ditch Kizaru plus that clone? all of them were injured. the admiral went so quickly to the Straw Hats I thought he'd dealt with them but did he get distracted and didn't care about the nonessential pirates?

also, why was Bonnie crying?

Why're the novas's upset about how the marines are trying to portray the situation? as in personally offended? they're all rookies so they can't have too much connection to WB's crew...are the novas's at least Law(?) planning to go? Shabondy isn't too far, they could make it in time, the ice is mostly gone and the gates are still open...but WHY? what reason would they have to go? I mean, the situation was extremely suicidally dangerous even before the wall went up and now? there was a reason why Oyaji yelled "throw your lives to the wind" so where are they going?

and the question must be asked again: WHO OPENED THE GATES??? seriously, who?!

I've known that I tend not to take things (ie. school) seriously until I get my first shocker...like this first developmental bio quiz...5 items, all essay 5 points each and no they weren't easy...needless to say, I didn't do so well. I studied a little and clearly it wasn't enough.

second shocker would be the threatened graded oral recitation for pol sci on the first three chapters (57 pages total)...didn't push through though she did give us a taste of what to expect...it was moved to tues but she added another chapter ^^;

oh and in animal physio we killed a frog...one per group and there were 6 groups (13/2 = 6) so six dead frogs...would have been more as sir wanted each of us to have experience pithing (sticking a needle into the frog's brain via that gap between the skull and the 1st vertebra and mashing the gray matter so it can't move but is still alive....I'm more a fan of drugging the froggies...) but it was rather impractical...heck we only needed a piece of the liver for a fresh blood sample to do the tonicity test...one frog would probably have been enough...heck..we could have poked a needle into somebody...

Worse note is that I'm still a little scatterbrained when it comes to paying attention in class... you know I forget to listen to stuff like "this is a group thing" and missing important details like "this is not due til the end of november"...idiot...

On a brighter note, I saw my tita Rina last thurs and I'll see tita Weena next friday. I miss my relatives. :D Usually I don't think about such things so much so I don't get so affected but I do miss everyone there in manila. :) it's good to know they're doing okay... recoving from the typhoons that hit recently...was surprised/concerned to learn that coz elise got hospitalized too with dengue like my sister...thankfully it wasn't too serious and they were both released without probs...lolo got ICU'd the moment he got into the hospital...I've never been hospitalized for a disease/sickness at all...longest I've stayed is like 2 days and that was cause I had sugery: my tonsils were removed.

how the heck can i feel so bad for Squado when just a few weeks ago I hated his guts? Now I don't know if i wanna deck him or hug him (and I used to debate printing out his pic and setting it on fire...)
Sengoku's stubborn...he's been focusing on encircling the pirates for a while now, he's just been working on different angles... surrounding with the 50 ships outside, then the pacifistas, now this wall...even had the other marines pull back so he's not a total douche but still he's presistent...and totally deserves his title as "the Tactician" I'm no fan but it's hard not to admire such skill even in the bad guys
morbidly I think Oars would ~~have been~~ be thrilled to know he was giving his friends a fighting chance to save "Ace-gun" (love his accent XD)

Congratulations on managing to corner the Straw Hat Pirates. Even if they did trick you, it was an accomplishment nonetheless. Unfortunately you have no time to rest on your laurels as you must immediately employ that same tenacity that got you in your situation in the first place should you wish to get out of there alive. You're situation is FUBAR.

PMS does not debilitate these pirates. In fact they will hit harder, shoot faster and hit more accurately than they normally would. It just puts them in a really, really bad mood. However, make no mistake; there is nothing personal about this. The Straw Hat crew does not see you as enemies, just stress relief dummies.

These rules, or rather guidelines as there is no solid set of regulations governing how to deal with pirates let alone with this particular band of outlaws, have been compiled for your benefit by those who have been where you are now, survived and wish to pass on what they’ve learned that others may have a better chance of getting out of that jam marginally intact or at the very least of not repeating old mistakes (and getting the chance to make new ones).

- Do. Not. Touch. The. Hat. EVER.

- Every man for himself.

- The Tabasco Stars’ intensity is directly proportional to the sniper’s temper.

Sanjiko - don’t know why but I think Sanjiko would suffer more than the rest of them, partly because she’s sensitive but mostly ‘cause ~~Oda/God likes messing with her~~ she’s got terrible luck

Zora - would probably treat the monthly visitor like a training regiment even if she did feel out of sorts/crabby…and the ‘unwind’ rule comes from the pic where she’s got bandages around her upper torso.

Frankie - would have to wear pants cause I doubt you can stick a napkin in that tiny bikini of hers (see pic) and that would of course annoy her to no end…which plus hormones is not good. ..Also this is assuming there are no tampons in OP, which, considering the general level of tech, is not so farfetched.

Luffyko – probably wouldn’t be affected that much in terms of hormone-induced mood swings and pain simply because of her personality and she’s just that lucky but she can’t jump and stretch as she normally would cause that would distort the shape of the napkin and lead to a mess (no napkin can match Luffyko’s movements XD). Also even when practically the entire crew is PMSing, Luffyko’s hat is all important that’s why it’s rule number 1! XD

Brooke – If a skeleton can breathe, eat, poop and fart she can have a menstrual cycle too, right? ... ~~I don’t’ know if she can have kids though and I don’t wanna know cause that would involve necrophilia~~

Chopper – her situation was problematic as animals don’t have menstrual cycles like humans but have mating cycles and she’s both in a way. I’m going with her getting hormonal imbalance which aggravates teenage insecurities.

school's begun

probably should have written this earlier but like the heading said, school's started. the official kickoff of this sem was last week but with all the changes being done a lot of the teacher's didn't bother showing up either. I wasn't able to change my german class sadly though it appears that it won't be too bad. Mrs. Murphy seems like a nice teacher and all.

Even with the long weekend, I get a feeling though that this sem will be quite trying....Mon and wed are so full, I worry when I'll be able to do my homework. And res 3 is shaping up to be a headache in itself :(

One Piece 563 just came out and while it's not OMFG!!! like the last chapter, it was very much epic.

you could feel the love/respect most of the pirates had for Whitebeard (son or not) and the love/care he felt for his sons in turn...even the foolish ones. And boy was Squado and idiot. Even with such a reason -and Roger wiping out his old crew or not that doesn't make it ACE'S fault! this whole Sins of the Father thing is getting old. He's behaving like the marines...- I'm still mad at him.. but maybe I won't wish him to burn in hell. WB forgave him so I'll trying not to hate him...so much.

Btw, Ace doesn't want to be pirate king! (his brother does not him!) and WB hasn't said that he wants to make the boy the PK either...Sengoku did and it's possible that he's just being his paranoid self.

damn them, the marines can be such tricky douches. Playing on the idiot's hate of Roger (and then comes another mystery! how'd they know Squado would be there? or was he just convenient and any old Roger-hating pirate would have sufficed?...then again how'd they know WB would bring roger-hating allies? what if he came by himself?) making the allies doubt each other by only firing on the non-WB ones and all to cause a betrayal to weaken the bonds between allies (divide and conquer...)...such devious underhand tactics. and plus they froze buggy and co right after Squado's ranting! now the whole world's in doubt about what the heck was going on and didn't catch the part where it's shown that the marines manipulated him...

and I'm not surprised. that it happened I guess maybe a little -I honestly thought they had more faith in each other than that or am I just so very used to the Strawhat-level of faith/trust?- but that Sengoku'd go there? not at all. He is the Tactician after all. And it would have been a good trick...and it worked at least to the extent of hurting WB (wonder if they actually thought Squado would be able to do that...maybe they were thinking WB would kill him so there would be no asking whys? but still cast doubts...then again maybe only capture as the screaming of "I trusted you damnit! You betrayed us!!" might have been crucial to the Plan? I don't know...) and casting some doubt but...!

On the stupidity question I still can't understand why Squado believed. I mean he didn't at first and it was the whole pacifista attacking the New World pirates only but for the love of the sea, he was talking to Akainu! mister I-kill-any-number-of-fellow-marines-or innocent-civilians-if-i-can-catch-a-criminal. as if that guy would willingly let pirates go. he'd double-cross them immediately and not lose a minute's worth of sleep.

Go WB!!! I'm glad he's not dead but I'm worried! An old injured (and that stab would is no laughing matter!) warrior jumping into the fight -while epic to the extreme - really feels like his launching himself into a glorious death or something and he can't die! AAAAACCCEE!!! and all his nakama would be devastated. and not the way croc boy was. the glitch. though in a way, most of the world has the same fault: forgetting that Shirohige's mortal like everyone else. His power may not have gone down but his body is deteriorating. time can't be stopped and he is OLD. and yeah, I get that. sobering thought that it is I get it but still! Whitebeard can't die here! not now! who'd take care of his sons? especially the foolish ones. what'll happen to the islands he protects with his name? he's got some pretty big shoes to fill and I'm not sure anyone can do it so easily or on such slight notice.

and why do I have a bad feeling Sengoku's still got more up his sleave and that there's more shit to be had? Awww...darn it all. all this taking breaks' wearing me out...i know Oda's busy -new baby and all- but the stress!!!

second sem starts tom and I'm both excited depressed. mostly depressed; I mean I hardly got to really relax this sem break what with thesis hanging off my back like some deadweight monkey or whatever. (and when I was able to forget/ignore I'd eventually remember and I'd feel guilty afterwards). but still this sem seems promising...I mean the going early-staying late thing promises to be a chore (and god knows how many will actually show up for school when the only class is at 6:30 PM...)

sorta scared a bit...this is my LAST sem and still i'm unsure of my future. what am I going to do? I delight in recognition/praise but I fear failure...and you can't gain without risking...

on another note, I missed holloween at my grandmother's place. which is SAD. When I was younger we'd do the whole costume/trick or treat thing and it would be great. candy and chocs. who wouldn't enjoy it? specially when lola would always be sure to have special treats set aside for us (not like the more common stuff she gave out to other kids...though we'd snatch some from that basket too ^^: ) we stopped trick or treating eventually but the costumes continued (tito carlo is living proof that being an adult doesn't stop you from dressing up...most memorable ones being his cat in the hat outfit and dexter costume XD) and the chocs. can't have holloween without the goodies right? it's more a barbecue family get together (what can I say? we like food :D ) now but still it's loads of fun. And my inaanak Stella was there in a little batgirl costume (thanks to my coz elise for taking pics) and I miss d merville peps :( well there's always christmas?

One Piece 562 reaction and Mysteries

It's been over a day since the chapter 562 came out, I've read it multiple times and honestly the shock's still there. Squado an ally stabbed Shirohige! That's just wrong. Shirohige's the "greatest pirate alive" right now and to be killed off by a betrayal is just wrong. Someone pointed out that his role - guiding mentor- has a high mortality rate and all but this is OP - people don't die in OP except in flashbacks - so he's got a chance. Others (namely Luffy and Zoro though the other strawhats have defied reality as well) have survived seemingly fatal injuries but like my dad used to say, they flashed the "I'm the bida (hero) card". And WB's not part of the main cast...plus he's old and - god i gotta stop with the negative thoughts. there's enough of that going on.

Well to take my mind off the morbid I'll list the OP mysteries (and boy is this story filled with them) and trivial bits that I can't help but wonder about:

-If the newkama residents got supplies from the gaolers...why'd the gaolers need so much fishnet stockings?
-How can Luffy crack his knuckles when he's made completely of rubber?
-Perona said she was a "spirit woman" so did she eat a devil fruit or is she some sort of medium?
-WB has allies that (a)look like a walrus, (b) has a panda (skin?) on his head (c)has an octopus on his head with corresponding arms all waving swords
-there is a vice admiral who looks like his part insect with extra arms also holding swords (I think bee cause of the big butt)
-so clearly multiple sword tech/skill is not that outrageous so why's everyone so weirded out by Zoro's santoryuu?
-or is it simply cause he uses the third in his mouth?
-how does he talk with that sword in his mouth anyway?
-how many maitou are there?
-where are Ichdai Kitetsu and Niidai Kitetsu?
-10th division commander has his WB tattoo on his chin...
-Someone else besides Ace has the full WB symbol but the other guy looks to have it on a shirt
-two of the commanders have the tat on their hats? forehead cover?
- Moria's zombies don't look fresh dead (heck one was a centaur and another had waaay too many hands to be normal) more like the one's hogback already worked on so how can they be the soldiers/pirates who died during that battle? Is Hogback there somewhere?
-Who was Luffy living with before getting sent to Dadan and Ace? If Garp had been there, no way the Red Haired pirates would have made their base in that village

-why do the marines care what Chopper's favorite food is? you'd think they'd want to post something a little more fearsome to get people to hate and turn him in...and how did they find out?

well defense went as badly as i thought it would go... Honestly what would one expect when it's the 1st draft being presented? talk about being riveted with errors...there was never a question of finding them just on how much and there was a lot ^^;...

still i guess the blame's on our shoulders. it's what we get for not working the data earlier.

Am rather unhappy right now...plus a bit guilty. I didn't make the BPI award and I'm bummed about it. lot's of people were really hoping I'd win. feels sorta like I let them down. and me too.

added to guilt is that we (my group plus april's) were given special allowances regarding our thesis since it was a vital part in the BPI award and I don't qualify for it anymore :( bad bad bad

life's not exactly a bed of roses right now but next sem's gonna be different... very few minors now. MW sched's full: 7:30 to 7:30 major's mostly though I get a language elective...TTh starts early and ends late too but there's a big gap between the 2nd and last subject...which is polsci...something most of my batch has already taken so I may be doing it alone... the best part though? Not only no saturdays (which would totally have made my day) but also no fridays! unbelievable! I may actually catch up on my sleep next sem XD

now I just have to pass thesis writing ^^;

The Debate is done! Thank God! and I don't think I did too badly :D... I mean it wasn't my best performance...I used less than 4 min and that probably counted against me but still first debate and all... Steph pointed out though that I had been more animated in class but at least in the classroom, it wasn't so serious and I wasn't on a podium all by myself in front of a large group of people with 2 of them judging me... Least I don't have to write 6 600 word speeches like the nondebaters have to :)...

the BPI Science Award too is done thankfully...still got a lot to do but I'm in a good mood (I wonder how long that will last?) and its mom's 50th birthday...Must have been amazing. i'm sorry i wasn't there :( though I don't doubt her officemates threw her a great bash... a little nostalgic though... I mean that was the last birthday of my dad's that I got to be with him.. ;_;

I just want all this done so I can have some fun without the guilt of not being studious like I'm supposed to be...

-a presentation (group) in history,
-a debate coming up for speech,
-2 reports for chem, a quiz next meeting, inferences to do for the last experiment, the write up for the next two expt and a scrapbook project
-2 paper's to write for aqua(one's mostly done) but one's upcoming as our expt hasn't ended yet

and of course the all important THESIS!!!

and yet I have time to internet...well like my Dad said, it's for my relaxation/rejuvination...
